Lent and Easter 2018
Good Friday

Lenten Devotions and Activities at St Michael's

Holy Hour. Mondays until 19th March, 7 - 8pm. An opportunity for quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament with the occassional reflection. The hour will conclude with Night Prayer of the Church and Benediction. Come for just a few minutes or the full hour.

Awareness of other Faiths. The Church encourages us to engage with members of religions so the following talks have been arranged during Lent:

Thursday 1st March: Gurmail Sing on Sikhism

Thursday 8th March: Ashok Khare on Hinduism

Wednesday 14th March: Edward Bainton on Islam

Thursday 22nd March: Rabbi Svi will lead us in the Passover Meal (£5 charge to cover costs. Tickets must be purchased in advance).

Big Church Clean. 10am Saturday 24th March. Lots of help needed to give the church a 'deep clean' ready for Easter.

Preparing for the Easter Liturgies. 2pm Saturday 24th March. For everybody who would like to practice the sung parts of our Easter liturgies (Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday).

Lenten Walk With Me Booklets are available at the back of the church.

Stations of the Cross will be held between the two Sunday Masses at 10am. Booklets to enable individual devotions can be found at the back of the church.

Service of Reconcilliation, Monday 26th March, 7.30pm. This will include the opportunity for the Sacrement of Confession with a visiting priest.

    Parish Lenten Project

Our Parish Lenten Project is to support Churches in Reading Drop in Centre (CIRDIC). CIRDIC is based in the centre of Reading and is recognised as a safe and welcoming drop in centre to many homeless people who are disadvantaged and living in the local community.  Browse the CIRDIC website at www.cirdic.org.uk to find out more about their activites.

We already have a long-standing association with CIRDIC through the donation of food and clothes. However this Lent we wish to raise money to help them refurbish one of their bathrooms.

This project will end on Sunday March 25th (Palm Sunday).

“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.”
